　　In the past 20 years China has experienced an alarming increase in teenage smoking: the number of boys who smoked rose from 6 percent in 1980 to 23 percent in 20xx, and during the same years, the number of girls who smoked increased as much as 15 times. The statistics look quite disturbing and cause people to ask why.

　　The factors for a great rise in teenage smoking are complex. Some attribute it to the increased standard of living which enables kids to have more pocket money, and others place the blame on cigarette advertising and the import of cigarettes, which give them easy access to Marlboros. Whatever the causes, only particular external circumstances have been examined. The factors, actually, are psychological as well as social. Most young people begin to smoke just out of curiosity: they have a strong desire to experience the pleasure of smoking which is forbidden to them. They also have a subconscious feeling that smoking will make them mature and tough and sophisticated. When they light up a cigarette, and produce puffs of smoke carelessly, they are under the illusion that they are growns-up instead of kids and that they are admired rather than rejected by society.

　　To help them get rid of such foolish ideas is the first step towards the effort to prevent children from starting to smoke, and then we may conduct a more extensive campaign to make them aware of the dreadful consequences of taking up the habit.

　　with homework to do on sundays, when can we find time to help around the house, join in a football or baseball game or see a good film, or just have a rest? because of all these other activities, weekend homework is usually put off until sunday night. as a resuit, it is often done so poorly that on mondays teachers always scold the whole class who have little idea of what the learned lessons are about.

　　if there were no homework for the weekends, students would go to school on mondays well rested and be willing to study.

　　every morning, the quiet and tranquil i garden beckons me to breathe the fresh air and stroll on the lush lawn. the morning is brilliant and cool, dead still, with no breeze to stir leaves. the steady melodious trill of birds, the voice reading english, and my footsteps on the path are the only sound. along the path, the upstanding and twiggy small trees with fresh green leaves glittering with dewdrops herald a prosperous new year.

　　in the evening, i come here again. the tangerine sky glows on the small garden. the bright yellow primroses, the mildly green willows, the lovely nameless wild flowers variegate the garden. on the stone chair, two old ladies are chatting while knitting. their lined faces are sincere and their wavering voices are friendly. a gentle girl stands by the pool of glistening ripples, a book in her hand, her dark hair gleaming smoothly above the yellow page. she stares silently into the distance. not far a way, there sit a couple, the boys arm across her soft shoulder,the girl holding his waist. they sit close together, with one shadow cast on the dry lawn.

　　12月22日，我們四（2）班陸續(xù)募集到各式各樣的物品，為20xx年12月31的“海洋之家”活動提供豐富的貨源，也為“英語貿(mào)易節(jié)”做好充分的準備。

　　今年的“英語貿(mào)易節(jié)”會有哪些精彩有趣的項目？每個班準備得怎樣了？物品是不是更豐盛了，收獲是不是更大？……一連串的問題不時從我的腦海里蹦出。12月30日這天晚上，日思夜盼的我還美美地做了一個夢。

　　第二天，我早早起床，用過早餐，就歡快地向裝飾一新的.校園奔去。那時來的人不多，整個校園還十分寧靜，我看到教室的課桌椅已經(jīng)擺成幾個區(qū)塊，同學們捐出的物品大多陳列了出來，一部分同學圍在那里，爭著看那一件件精美的禮品、一張張精致的賀卡……

　　舉行完莊嚴的少先隊入隊儀式后，一年一度的“英語貿(mào)易節(jié)”就正式拉開了帷幕。我和陳鼎灝一起去參觀購物了！我們想下到一樓，但樓梯上的人已堵在一起，下樓很費勁，我們就先奔三樓去也。這里的物品太花俏，我不打算買，咱倆轉回四樓——我們四年級的大本營——尋寶。陳鼎灝看到四（3）班有很多玩偶，就拉我進去瞧瞧。他看中了火影忍者的二個掛件，下單了。我暫時還沒想好買什么，錢包仍是鼓鼓的。何況六年級的物品我還沒去看呢！不著急。我倆隨處逛逛，正好來到五（2）班，陳鼎灝帶著不少優(yōu)惠券大可以派上用場，他買了二杯飲料， 還送一杯，喝得肚子都漲起來。東瞧西逛后我們暫且回到四（2）班，陳鼎灝又迷上了一只可愛的玩具狗，但價錢超高，小小狗要價5元。我去套圈，可惜什么也沒套中，倒是看上了一只灰毛熊，你瞧，毛茸茸的，兩只眼睛藏在里面，那長長的毛都可以扎辮子了，比較好玩。我花了6元錢把它買下，也算是做份貢獻。一年級這次沒組織什么活動，我們下到一樓，看到前任班主任蔣老師在那里整理物品，就聊了一會兒話。之后，我們?nèi)チ吮睒�，在那里買了一個水氣球。在二（4）班我買了1對雞翅， 一只自己吃，另一只請陳鼎灝吃……

　　算一下，這回我班一共進帳770元人民幣！這主要歸功于那些在幕后辛勤服務的同學。你看，馬寧在講臺前熱心講解套圈的細則，余昊楠耐心告訴同學玩具的功能和銷售價格……，他們雖然不能盡情去購物，但一樣笑得十分開心。

　　However, opinions on it differ from teachers to students.Generally, teachers support it for two reasons: Firstly, online course can be conducted at home or office and this offers great convenience to teachers.Secondly, online course releases teachers from repeating the same contents since the video or audio material can be played time and again.

　　However, many students have opposite standpoints: In the first place, with online course, they lack face-to-face communications with teachers and their confusion cannot be solved instantly.In addition, the computer system cannot be guaranteed to work stably all the time.What’s more, they do not have 100 percent confidence in their self-discipline without teachers being around to supervise.

　　Personally, with the college students growing up, if the traditional teaching method and the modern ones like on-line course can be combined together, more fruitful education is sure to be realized.
