icebergs are among nature's most spectacular creations, and yet mostpeople have never seen one. a vague air of mystery envelops them. theycome into being ----- somewhere ------in faraway, frigid waters, amidthunderous noise and splashing turbulence, which in most cases no onehears or sees. they exist only a short time and then slowly waste awayjust as unnoticed.
objects of sheerest beauty they have beencalled. appearing in an endless variety of shapes, they may bedazzlingly white, or they may be glassy blue, green or purple, tintedfaintly of in darker hues. they are graceful, stately, inspiring -----in calm, sunlight seas.but they are also called frightening anddangerous, and that they are ---- in the night, in the fog, and instorms. even in clear weather one is wise to stay a safe distance awayfrom them. most of their bulk is hidden below the water, so theirunderwater parts may extend out far beyond the visible top. also, theymay roll over unexpectedly, churning the waters around them.
icebergsare parts of glaciers that break off, drift into the water, float aboutawhile, and finally melt. icebergs afloat today are made of snowflakesthat have fallen over long ages of time. they embody snows that drifteddown hundreds, or many thousands, or in some cases maybe a millionyears ago. the snows fell in polar regions and on cold mountains, wherethey melted only a little or not at all, and so collected to greatdepths over the years and centuries.
as each year's snowaccumulation lay on the surface, evaporation and melting caused thesnowflakes slowly to lose their feathery points and become tiny grainsof ice. when new snow fell on top of the old, it too turned to icygrains. so blankets of snow and ice grains mounted layer upon layer andwere of such great thickness that the weight of the upper layerscompressed the lower ones. with time and pressure from above, the manysmall ice grains joined and changed to larger crystals, and eventuallythe deeper crystals merged into a solid mass of ice.
It is a story that takes place in New York metropolis, played by Jean Reno as a professional killer ---Leon,who is entrusted by a restaurant owner to murder someone. When appearing as a killer ,he is calm and mysterious and his way of murder is completely exciting . In contrast, when removing the mask of a killer, he thenbecomes a rather humble man in the world, who is even too simple to have an identity card and a bank account that were almost owned by any ordinary people. He drinks at least a cup of fresh milk every day and likes watering flowers and wipes the foliages of his favourite pot plant carefully. In general,he is a man who has dual identities in life.
Leon lives in an apartment where someone processes drug dealing secretly. A 12-year-old little girl-- Mathilda's father is a informant of
Drug Enforcement Administration . He privately pocketed some drugs because of greed, which made him suffer fromnervous police officer Stan’s revenge killing his whole family members except the little girl-- Matilda. For the sake of safety ,she hided in Leon’s house that is next door to hers. Then she knew another identity of Leon, a very famous killer. in order to protect herself and revenge for her family , with a firm tone, Matilda asked Leon to train her to become a real professional killer ......
After this, Stan also fully searched Matilda so as to protect himself from accusation ......
One day , Matilda was catched when she alone went to the police station to revenge. After knowing that Leon alone broke into the police station to rescue Matilda and killed some police officers. In a great panic, the police ordered to siege the apartments and fully search for Leon ,which resulted in a
intense duel between two parties. After defeating a group of police Leon rescued the girl again and told her to escape through the ventilation duct, as well as the money he left to her at the storage of the restaurant boss. In order to escape from the encirclement , Leon disguised as a policeman and mixed into the police. unfortunately ,he wasseen through by Stan. Without choice, Lyon detonated the bomb fastened to him.....
At first ,The two have totally different life trace,Leon--a 40-year-old lone professional killer abiding by the principle that don’t kill women and children; while Matilda, an ordinary 12-year-old girl of the next door.without Matilda’s unluckiness of ,they would not have any connection. However they got together actually anda wonderful chemical reaction between them happened and generated a new substance--love.
Although Leon last sacrificed his life to save Matilda’s , he would not regret falling
in love with her because she let him feel the joy of life, feel the sweetness of love, and complete the salvation of his soul (he eventually used his own blood to clean the sins that he had committed). As for Matilda, she would not regret falling in love with the middle-aged man who called Leon , for he protected her from being hurt , showed the warmth of the family to her again and told her the the true meaning of love andhow to cherish it.
Singapore is a fine country這句話中的.fine一詞有多種含義,如“好的、細(xì)小的、罰款”等。

"When people succeed, it is because of hard work, Luck has nothing to do with success. " Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific and examples to explain your position. When people succeed, it is because of hard work, but luck has a lot to do with it, too. Success without some luck is almost impossible. The French emperor Napoleon said of one of his generals, “I know he’ s good. But is he lucky?” Napoleon knew that all the hard work and talent in the world can’ t make up for bad luck. However, hard work can invite good luck. When it comes to success, luck can mean being in the right place to meet someone, or having the right skills to get a job done. It might mean turning down an offer and then having a better offer come along. Nothing can replace hard work, but working hard also means you’ re preparing yourself opportunity. Opportunity very often depends on luck. How many of the great inventions and discoveries came about through a lucky mistake or a lucky chance? One of the biggest lucky mistakes in history is Columbus’ so-called discovery of America. He enriched his sponsors and changed history, but he was really looking for India. However, Columbus’ chance discovery wasn’ t pure luck. It was backed up by years of studying and calculating. He worked hard to prove his theory that the world was round. Success that comes from pure luck and no hard work can be a real problem. For example, consider a teenage girl who becomes a movie star. Imagine she’ s been picked from nowhere because of her looks. She is going to feel very insecure, because she knows she didn’ t do anything to earn her stardom. On the other hand, think about an actress who’ s spend years learning and working at her craft. When she finally has good luck and becomes a success, she will handle stardom better, she knows she earns it. People who work hard help make their own luck by being ready opportunity knocks. When it comes to success. I think that hard work and luck so hand in hand.

With its superb singing skills, solid playing skills, acting pretty famous Mr. Mei Lanfang devoted all his life to the lofty cause of people's art on the development of the motherland drama and when busy with state affairs, but the motherland was the invasion of foreign enemy, he resolutely and beard, rather spoiled by the termination of his the cause, also determined not to sing the Japanese bandits the utter innocence, feel the world every single word or phrase.
He wanted to sing, but he sang to the people all over the world; he did not sing; it was out of patriotic blood. From idol Mei Lanfang, we feel more deeply about patriotism and personal dignity, and our faith is more firm.
To do or not to do -- the dedication of a public servant

Who listened to this sentence of "deaf, deaf," and moved? Persevere, never give up, let our idol Beethoven shine!

Let us choose the right idol, to their footsteps, draw their strengths, and constantly improve themselves, want to go deeper and farther ocean!
