The prison gives you the opportunity to stay overnight on real prisoners benches and mattresses, according to the website, which goes on to boast that it is unfriendly, unheated and uncomfortable. There are absolutely no comforts laid on at this naval jail, built in 1905 to house the Czars mutinous sailors.
Mysterious and inexplicable things are noticed in the guard house rumbling footsteps, self-unscrewing of electrical bulbs, unaccountable opening of closed doors of the cells but the appearance of impossible images has come as the most unpleasant surprise to many a visitor.
College students, curious and energetic, love traveling; summer and winter vacations provide them with golden opportunities to travel. There are two major modes of travelling—traveling by oneself or traveling in a group organized by travel agencies.
Those two patterns offer different travel experiences, with respective advantages and disadvantages. For the solitary traveler, the greatest advantage is freedom. He is perfectly free to choose his itinerary and plan his schedules, thus he can visit whatever his curiosity leads him to and contemplate over a historical site or a cultural relic for as long as he desires. The trouble is he cannot share his perceptions and excitement with any partners. Moreover, it is time-consuming and difficult to buy train tickets and look for accommodations and in emergency situations an individual traveler is largely helpless. Those problems are non-existent for group travelers because travel agencies take care of everything. Within a group, people who used to be strangers soon become friends. However, the fixed itineraries and tight schedule prevent travelers from satiating their individual curiosities. In addition, tourists are often subjected to forced shopping by tour guides who are more concerned with securing commissions than providing services.
My solution to these two imperfect modes of traveling is to travel with friends or classmates. This pattern incorporates most of their advantages while avoiding all their disadvantages. I am convinced this is the best and most sensible form of traveling which everybody should adopt.

Travel Broadens theMind
Travel has many benefits to offer. It enriches our experiences and helps us know more about the world, aside from relaxing ourselves both physically and psychologically.
To begin with, travel is one of the best ways to enrich our experiences. If we visit tourist attractions and historical or cultural relics at different places of our country or foreign lands, we will meet different people, enjoy exotic natural sceneries, have a taste of varied cultures and, in the long run, enrich our knowledge. Moreover, travel also helps to enlighten and broaden our minds, since it provides us with new perspectives through what we learn from other cultures. For example, it helps to reduce cultural prejudice after we have got a better understanding of civilizations that vary sharply from one another.
Travel is gaining increasing popularity among us. We travel to relax ourselves, enrich our experiences and broaden our minds.
Behaved Tourism
When holiday comes, thousands of people pour into the tourist sites, they want to relax themselves and enjoy the beautiful scenery. But Chinese people have a bad habit, they like to leave some notes on the site, proving them have been here before. Such a behavior has been criticized by the public, because the leaving note will damage the preservation of the tourist site. Most of the tourist sites are part of our country’s historical relics, these sites are priceless, it is everyone’s duty to protect the sites.
When we go to travel, we should behave ourselves. First, we need to have the idea that no rubbish being leaved behind when we leave the site. We should take away what we bring, keep the environment clean. Second, no any notes being written in the sites. Though in the old days, Chinese workers like to leave their names on the sites, but now it is a new world, we need to behave ourselves.
Have you ever seen a kite flying? Did you fly kites when you were a child? Most of the children in China fly kites.
The kite is made of very thin bamboo1 slices as framework, then pasted2 with thick paper. It is designed to climb and fly in a steady breeze at the end of a long string, while the person on the ground holds the other end of string to control the kite. Most of the kites in China are made in the shapes of animals such as flying birds. Kite flying has been very popular in China since the sixth century, according to the historical records.
Kite flying was one of my most favorite childhood pastimes3 in every spring. One of my senior cousins knew how to fly kite well and he also knew how to make a good kite. According to him, balancing the two wings was the key to make a kite stay in the sky.
I have lived in Wyoming for twenty years, yet I seldom see the children here flying kites. Last year, I had a vocation in San Francisco and was glad to find many children flying kites by Fisherman's Wharf4. And I discovered many shops along with the wharf selling kites. With the advancement of modern techniques, the kites now were made of plastic cloth instead of thick paper such as the ones I used to play with, and they were much more colorfully painted than before.
When the people hold the end of string in their hands, they can control the kite's movement in the sky. Once the string is broken, the kite will suddenly fly higher and farther. But it will soon drop down to the ground because of loss of the support of the string, according to my cousin's explanation.
Once there were two kites flying in the sky. One was in the shape of an eagle and the other one, a wild duck. The white clouds amused themselves by floating around in the sky. The sun beamed5 with smile toward every one. The spring breeze6 made all creatures happy. The two kites flew side by side.
“Are you happy?” the eagle asked the duck“Yes, I am very happy,” the wild duck replied.
“If I could get rid7 of the control of the boy on the ground to get freedom, I would fly higher and farther.” The eagle said,“Then,I would be happier.”
Soon, the weather changed. The nice weather suddenly disappeared. The white cloud left, the sun returned home, and the wind blew harder and harder. Taking of this opportunity, the eagle finally broke the long string and got his freedom. He indeed flew much higher and farther.
But soon, the eagle kite was dropped by the strong wind toward the ground and broken into pieces, while the boy withdrew8 his long string and took the duck kite home.
Freedom is the target every person pursues9 . But freedom does not mean that people can do whatever they want, regardless of laws and rules. It is a part of a reasonable political system. People have freedom; the government must create laws to restrict and protect the freedom. That is the way a well-organized society is supposed to be. Without close cooperation, there will be chaos10 , like what the above eagle kite met.

It’s well known that the Yellow River is the second longest river in China.Though my hometown is close to her,yet I had no chance to enjoy myself at her beautiful scenery. What a pity!To my great joy we were told that we would go there and have a good look at the lovely river on Sunday.
It took us quite a few hours’ ride to reach the bank of the river, where we saw the Chunü Spring. It is one of the most famous hot springs there .The water of the spring is so clear that we couldn’t help diving into it.Our head teacher, together with us,swam happily.Floating on the water,I looked around .We were surrounded by the great mountains.
Then we got on some small boats. We had been longing to float on the Mother River.Seeing her powerful current and attractive beauty,I felt proud of being one of her sons.
It was noon before we knew it.We went ashore and then danced and sang happily on the grassland. We helped ourselves to the tasty fish, crabs and other food, which we cooked ourselves.
It was time for us to go home.We had to say good-bye to the Mother River. We all felt reluctant when we left her.
