“Experiencing Physical Warmth, Promotes Interpersonal Warmth” 讀后感
After reading “Experiencing Physical Warmth, Promotes Interpersonal Warmth” thoughts .
The passage tells me that the warm-cold dimension is so central to interpersonal perception and behavior without the person’s awareness of this influence. At first ,the many theroists hypothesized that experience of physical warmth (or coldness) would increase feeling of interpersonal warmth(or coldness),without the person’s awareness of this influence. And then, the writer hold two examples and two studies to proof their hypotherized. Solomon Asch’s original demonstration of the transformational power of warm and cold as personality traits in first impression of individuals, and monkeys“raised” by the warm cloth mother showed relatively normal social development as adults. So, they hypotherized the true of their theory. And then , they use double blind method to proof it. They hold two studies, in the study 1, participants who briefly held a cup of hot (versus iced) coffee judged a target person as having a “warmer” personality. In the study 2, participants holding a hot (versus cold) therapeutic pad were more likely to choose a gife for a friend instead of themselves.
The verdict plays a very important role in our daily life. We can transmit ous hospitality to the guest .For example, we can give a hot tea instead of cold beverage to the guest. Of course, we also can deck our home with warmth, it would increase feeling of interpersonal warmth, without the person’s awareness of this influence and so on.
However ,Be in calm down to accept this theory, we should have a deep thinking about it whether is really right.
