A surgeon returned from a safari in Africa.

“How did it go?” asked his colleagues.

“Oh, it was very disappointing,” replied the surgeon. “I didn’t kill a thing. In fact, I’d have been better off staying here in the hospital.”

1.surgeon n.

physician n.

2.safari n.

3.How did it go?

=How did your hunting go?

=How was it going

以下例句都有“How are you?(你好嗎 ?)”

How is it going?

How are you doing?

How is everything going?

How are you getting along?

How have you been?

4.colleague n. 同事

5.disappointed a.

disappointing a.

disappointment n. 失望

例:Tom was disappointed by Mary's lack of response.

6.be better off 生活過得較好(乃由 be well off 轉(zhuǎn)變而來)

例:Don't you think you'd be better off in a different line of work?
