Unit 3 A day out Period One : Comic strip and welcome to the unit Teaching aims and demands: 1) Know some famous cities and places of interest of several foreign countries. 2) Students can talk something about the trips they went on by some simple sentences. 3) Students can talk about their travel plans by some simple sentences. Teaching contents: 1) New words : ourselves, greeting, greetings, president, block, foreign, city, the Eiffel Tower, the Harbour Bridge, the River Seine, the White House. 2) Phrases : need to exercise, keep fi,t keep healthy, take a boat trip, go on a trip by boat go past, walk past my best greetings, sit in a little coffee shop, a beautiful building with a big garden, foreign country. 3) Sentences: What are you going to do , Eddie ? I’m going to do exercise, Hobo. You need to exercise and keep fit. I want to exercise but not keep fit. Let’s enjoy ourselves. Which city do you want to go? Teaching important and difficult points: 1. To introduce some places of interest in the world. 2. To talk about where and why to go using model sentences. Teaching abilities: 1. To enable the students to know famous cities abroad and interesting places in Beijing; 2. To enable the students to communicate about a holiday plan for a trip with deskmates or partners with simple conversation. Teaching emotion: To cultivate the students to love the nature and their motherland by learning and remembering some famous places of interest aborad, especially in Beijing. Analysis of Students’ learning and teaching ideas: There are some pictures of the places of interest at home and aborad on the postcards. The students are familiar with them. I think the students must be interested in these pictures when I show them to the students in class. Of course, I’ll teach how to search for some famous places of interest at home and aborad. Based on this , I’ll show them how to identify the places of interest at home and aborad, and how to discuss : Which foreign countries they would like to go ? Teaching methods : ppt and recorder Teaching procedures : Step One Warm-up Exchange greetings with the students. Step Two Presentation Let the students look at some pictures of my trip to Hong Kong and teach the new words and phrases to the students. Step Three Presentation Show some pictures of interest to the students to get ready for teaching Part A on Page 39 Step Four Ask and answer Show the postcards from Amy’s and Simon’s friends to the students. Let the students read them together, then ask them to answer some questions about the postcards. Step Five Comic strip Show the pictures of comic strip to the students .Let the students listen to the tape and read it together first, then let them answer some questions about Eddie. Step Six Talk Tell the students we had a long holiday some days ago,Let the students talk about their holidays and ask some of them to report their holiday in class. Step Seven Free talk Tell the students we often have free time, for examples, We have weekends, some Days, winter holidays, summer holidays and so on. Let the students talk about: Where do they want to go? etc. If time is permission, I’ll ask some of them to act their plans out in class. If time is not permission, I’ll make it be as a piece of homework. Step Eight Homework Write about the place of interest you want to visit best. Write at least 70 words. Blackboard design See ppt.
