My college life The college life is wonderful. All life in school are fresh. New teachers, new classmates and fresh friends are around me. I’ve felt their friendship, wide knowledge and opening mind. The grand library, school buildings and wide playground are very attracting to me. I am very eager to learn much knowledge quickly. In high school, I was ever called as a runner before time. Now,I know I am behind time so much in fact. I hope to catch up with the time by my hard studying. Every day, you can see me get up early, doing exercise hard and go to school the first one. At night, I am the one who leaves away the library.

The most interesting thing is that I can’t speak the PUTONGHUA well and made many funny events at the beginning, as I am from South. When I entered the classroom at first time, I was headache as I couldn’t understand what the professor was speaking. I met much difficulties at math, physics and other courses, even though I used to be good at these sciences. Therefore, I learn these courses myself after class. After three months, the exmination indicated that I overcame all the difficlties. I also improved my listening and spoken ability of Chinese quickly. Communication is very important to my college life. I study English hard as well. It makes me have many chances to communicate with foreigners. I made friends with many foreign teachers and students. From them, I learn many knowledge about foreign cultures. The computer room is another place I like to staying. I contact the outside world by the internet. All the News, advance science, and the information about internal and outside of China.

In 20xx, it has been said that the College Entrance Exam will be reformed by Education Ministry, people have waited for the outcome these days, it is a great thing for the students, because it will decide their future. Now, the reform has come out, in the future, there will be no separation between liberal art and science, this decision has good side and bad side.

On the one hand, it can improve students’ overall education. Since there will be no separation between liberal art and science, students need to pay attention to overall education, they must learn all the subjects. The overall education is popular in western education, the students take part in activity, making themselves learn more skills. I believe our education can catch up with western education.

On the other hand, everyone has their talent in some subjects, it is hard for student to learn all the subjects. For most girls, they are good at liberal art, while for boys, most of them are interested in science. If they have to learn all the subjects, they can’t focus their attention on their advantaged subjects.

In all, it needs time for students to get used to the reform, I believe it will do good to students’ future development.

Despite months of anticipation, nothing could have prepared me for the impact of the actual day. Tears welled up uncontrollably in my eyes when I slowly stepped into my Alma Mater on high school graduation day.

This was not what I had assumed before.I was over whelmed by a rush of sadness, not excitement. Perhaps this day was the last time I saw my old school, which had been my devoted companion for three years.I looked around, attempting to carry everything into my mind. The quiet trail, decorated with spotted sunlight shadows casting through the spaces between the leaves, the refreshing sweet diffused in the air, the brilliant flowers, the chirping crickets, and the vivid green grass! All the things I will miss!

As if in a daze, I received my diploma from the headmaster. As I reached out my hand, I knew that I was reaching not just for a piece of paper but for a brand new life.Exciting as the prospect of a new life seemed, it wasn't easy saying goodbye to the old onethe familiar faces, the familiar routine. I would even miss that mathematics class I wasn't particularly fond of and the long commute each day that I abhorred. Good or bad, it was what I knew. There had been sunshines and rains, laughers and tears, and they still existed in every corner I could see. From that day on, I became a grown up, with all the bitter and sweet memories behind.

The most influential book in my life is, so far, "The Life of Fire and Iron" by a Japanese author. Among other things, it introduces the mind of Voto von Bismarck, a prominent European in the 19th century who laid the foundation of modern German. Small wonder that I as a teenager was carried away when I first read the biography, not so much by the intriguing process in which the nation was founded as by the personality of Bismarck as described in the book. Though this formidable figure was long since dead, he remains a statesman par excellence. It was a pity that such a man of strength and character like Bismarck who, swimming against the stream of constitutionalism, could not give full vent to his talent simply because the German emperor Wilhelm II was jealous of his fame. Nevertheless, what whit his loyalty to the country and what with his indefatigable personality, he did win himself the reputation as a patriotic fighter reminiscent of Winston Churchill in contemporary time. Again and again I attempted to grasp every trait of the fighter's Brought to life by the biographer, wishing that someday I could be like him. Thus when I was still a starry-eyed lad I took to heart whatever Bismarck thought, did and valued saw him as the pole-star of many years I used to meditate on what the book said whenever I was faced with troubles and could not make decisions off hand. To speak the truth, what the book inspired, whether it was in connection with Bismarck himself or not, did help me in solving problems without fall. In short, I can never praise the book too much for it has influenced me so greatly in the past and will, I am afraid, continue to do so in days to come.

this applicant shows that her interest in public interest law flows naturally from her volunteer activities and life eperiences. when you finish this essay, do you have a sense of unity and completion? she tied her conclusion both to the highlights of the body and her lead.

the last thing i remember is falling asleep during a late night rerun of the twilight zone. so when it happened, it was especially eerie, like i had stepped into a lost episode, but rod serling was nowhere in sight; for moment, neither was anybody else. at 4:31 am a merciless shove pushed me off my bed. i crawled on the floor, trying to escape the cruel, uncontrollable shaking, but it followed me. it followed me down the stairs and underneath the dining room table where my family joined me. little did i realize that before the morning sun rose again, i would see everything differently.

my world changed. the 6.7 earthquake which crippled the northridge area on january 17, 1994 rattled and ripped apart the fibers of security in our neighborhood. our home was ruined; smashed glass, crumbled walls, and the lack of electricity, gas, and water made it uninhabitable. without basic utilities, we slept and lived in our car for nine days while guarding our home from looters.

the damage was everywhere. a personal landmark, the granada hills kaiser permanente medical center, collapsed. the site where i had volunteered as a teen advisor 鈥?lobbying for and improving the quality of the teen health clinic while working one- on-one with underprivileged, problem teenagers 鈥?no longer eisted. only an empty lot and the memory of a valuable and productive medical and psychological outreach program for troubled youth remained.

as much as northridge and its surrounding regions changed eternally, so did the lives of the victims internally. following this traumatic eperience, i developed a keen awareness of the fragility of life and a newly restored appreciating for the simplest of my old comforts. as vulnerable and edgy as i was with every aftershock that rolled through the area, i consoled myself with reminders of how we were spared.

with a profound sense of gratitude for our relative good fortune, within weeks of the initial quake i volunteered at the american red cross earthquake relief center.

as my family and i rebuilt our home and our lives, i translated for iranian earthquake victims and performed various clerical tasks. yet, my most valuable contribution to the earthquake relief team stemmed from the moral support i was qualified to provide. with my earthquake eperience, i was able to comfort the teary-eyed victims who approached us for help. i gave them the hope and understanding they sought from a primarily out-of-state staff. i benefited too: my work for the red cross aroused my curiosity in public interest law.

i had the opportunity to eplore this new interest in the summer when i interned in washington d.c. for congressman howard p. (buck) smith of california. that summer i was responsible for attending meetings and informing the congressmans staff of the issues discussed. one of the issues i followed dealt with a proposed guideline to prohibit religious epression in the workplace due to its allegedly offensive nature. defining such acts as wearing a star of david or praying silently before a meal as religious harassment, the bill attempted to equate these acts with verbal or seual harassment.

still the most fulfilling eperience of my internship was serving the mr. smiths constituents when they wrote, called, or visited our washington office. their concerns covered many issues, including city maintenance and the enforcement of fcc regulations on local radio stations; yet, most cries for help grew out of the january 17 disaster.

my eperience in the earthquake proved to be useful in my internship. after all, i was working with mr. earthquake himself. as the only intern from northridge, i was assigned to the earthquake project. i acted as a liaison between constituents and the small business administration, federal emergency management agency, and other governmental agencies that handled quake reconstruction monies. because of my eperience, i was again able to empathize with victims in a way that neither the staff nor the other interns could. as a result of my work, i gained a more profound grasp of the legal process and how it was able to help northridge residents with their post earthquake problems.

the january 17 earthquake dramatically changed my world 鈥?both inside and out. in the red cross shelter and in congressman smiths office, my career ambitions took shape: public interest law grabbed me. now i want to help those who cannot purchase legal services, not only by providing the empathy gained during my own trying eperiences, but also by using the skills and knowledge i will acquire at the abc law school. with this preparation, i look forward to helping others escape their legal or bureaucratic twilight zones.

As I live in the south, I never have the chance to see snow. I wish I could witness it once in my life. My wish came true this year, because my parents flied to the north city to spend the holiday. We bought a lot of clothes. When we took off the flight, it was so cold for me, because I never experienced such coldness. The world was white for me. The trees were covered with white snow, and it was amazing. I felt like I was in the story world. But in the house, it was so warm because of the central heating. It was even warmer than the south. The most exciting thing was to play snow. I built snow men with all kinds of shapes. It was so funny. My father and I played in the snow for a long time. It is so unforgettable for me.

I don’t think it’s a very good idea to borrow money from a friend. It can cause resentment and awkwardness in the relationship. How do you approach your friend without making him feel he has to do this for you? It’s unlikely he’ll feel as if he can turn you down. Can be turn you down without insulting you? Probably not.

How do you know whether your friend can afford to lend you the money? He may be embarrassed to admit he’s a little short of funds himself. Or he might not want to disappoint you. So he lends you the money and then he needs money, too.

There’s also the question of when you’ll pay back the loan. It’s awkward for your friend to ask for a deadline for repayment. Besides, if you’re short of funds, you may not be able to predict when you’ll pay him back. What about interest on the loan? If it’s a small amount of money, this doesn’t matter. However, if large funds are involved, and you won’t be paying it back for a while, should you offer to pay interest? Should your friend ask you to pay interest? All these issues can result in hurt feelings and can harm the friendship.

It’s possible, of course, that if you borrow money from a friend and pay it back in a timely fashion, this will create a special bond between the two of you. You’ll know that you can count on your friend when you need help. He’ll know you’re trustworthy.

However, more often than not, money issues between friends are an embarrassment. If you need money, it’ s better to go to a bank for a loan.

Self-help Traveling

Many university students prefer a self-help travelling to a packaged one, because they do not have to follow a rigidly-planned schedule. In addition, these young people can stay in and enjoy a spot they find fascinating while leave immediately a scene that they regard not so captivating. Another important reason is that some students are not willing to pay a big sum on accommodation, so instead, they make do with living in a cheaper place.

It cannot be denied that self-help travelling is less safe. A trip into remote areas or mountains may turn out to be risky. These young people have neither sufficient experience in dealing with emergencies nor do they have somebody to resort to. They might be lost in a place without communication and nobody knows their situation.

Independent travelling, as far as I am concerned, would be an enjoyable and cost-effective choice as long as it is nearby. For young travelers, before starting, they are supposed to make enough preparations, including route, accommodations and necessary emergency aids.
