大學(xué)英語作文 篇1

Many college students stay up very late at night chatting in bed. They chat on various subjects, such as study, love, society and future. Sometimes their chat goes on and on and seems to lead nowhere. Views on this common phenomenon in college life vary from person to person. To my way of thinking, bedtime chat is beneficial for students.

First of all, bedtime chat is good for freshmen at college. Students from all over the country are naturally curious about each other. Bedtime chat seems to be a good answer to their curiosity. Through a good bedtime chat, students in the same dorm would soon earn about each other's likes and dislikes, which can result in a better understanding among roommates. Secondly, it is inevitable to chat on study in bed. Bedtime chat helps with academic development in that it makes up for what each has missed in their daytime lessons. Thirdly, bedtime chat helps broaden students' horizon. This is especially true when the roommates are of a diverse set in terms of culture and geography. Different customs reflecting a different culture and different scenery representing their respective geographical conditions are referred to and shared in their chat, which is not only enjoyable but also beneficial. However, one can never neglect the fact that a bedtime chat carried on for too long will eat much into their time for sleep and affect study the following day.

In a word, I firmly believe that bedtime chat in dorms at college has much more advantages than disadvantages only if it doesn't go on for too long.

Getting a college degree is a career necessity in today's business world. College graduates earn nearly twice as much during their working years as high school graduates. College graduation will qualify you for many jobs that would not be available to you any other way. Your career advancement should be easier because some job promotions require a college degree.

It’s important to think about different options when deciding how to spend one’s summer during college. Don’t waste the three months off by not planning ahead of time. Consider the four options outlined below.

It’s important for college students to have some real world experience when they graduate and have their hard-earned degrees. A college degree will only get someone so far without any experience in the field. Many organizations and employers will not consider someone without experience. If college students can’t get hired without experience, how do they start? Take unpaid internships.

Some college students need a paying job over the summer to support themselves; however, if someone has the means to support oneself while completing a summer internship, then he/she should take the opportunity to build his/her resume. After college students complete an internship, they are more likely to get a paid job in the same field the next summer or after they graduate. This is a good way to get a positive reference for one’s resume.

College is expensive, and many students rely on financial aid and savings to get through the four years of study. If college students can find jobs that relate to their major, then they should take that opportunity. If this is not a possibility, then taking the best paid job available is usually the next best option. Any work experience that is done well can result in a good reference or recommendation for future employment.

大學(xué)英語作文 篇4

As the pace of life quickens and the pressure from our work increases, some people say that we are becoming more gloomy and unhappy with each passing day. They believe that, in fact, we are losing our ability to laugh. They also hold that if we laugh more often we will feel happier and be more healthy because "laughter is the best medicine".

What they say seems radical, but in fact not radical at ail. Laughter can really bring us a lot of benefits. First, laughter has a similar effect to physical exercise. It speeds up our heart rate,

increases our blood pressure and quickens our breathing. It also makes our facial and stomach muscles work. In fact, it is a kind of "jogging" on the spot. Next, laughter is a kind of pain relief. When we laugh, we produce a kind of chemical materials in our body that helps us to relieve pain. In addition, laughter stimulates our immune system, preventing us from being infected by diseases. Third, laughter improves our state of mind and affects our entire physical well beings. Laughter helps us feel healthy and alive. Each time we laugh, we feel better and more content. Finally, laughter helps to ease the tension between people. Sometimes when people are going to quarrel with each other for one reason or another, a humorous remark leading to laughter can help settle the argument.

大學(xué)英語作文 篇5

everything (he kept saying) is something it isnt. and everybody is always somewhere else. maybe it was the city, being in the city, that made him feel how queer everything was and that it was something else. maybe (he kept thinking) it was the names of the things. the names were te and frequently koid. or they were fle and oid or they were duroid (sand) or flesan (duro), but everything was glass (but not quite glass) and the thing that you touched (the surface, washable, crease-resistant) was rubber, only it wasnt quite rubber and you didnt quite touch it but almost. the wall, which was glass but turned out on being approached not to be a wall, it was something else, it was an opening or doorway--and the doorway (through which he saw himself approaching) turned out to be something else, it was a wall. and what he had eaten not having agreed with him.

he was in a washable house, but he wasnt sure. now about those rats, he kept saying to himself. he meant the rats that the professor had driven crazy by forcing them to deal with problems which were beyond the scope of rats, the insoluble problems. he meant the rats that had been trained to jump at the square card with the circle in the middle, and the card (because it was something it wasnt) would give way and let the rat into a place where the food was, but then one day it would be a trick played on the rat, and the card would be changed, and the rat would jump but the card wouldnt give way, and it was an impossible situation (for a rat) and the rat would go insane and into its eyes would come the unspeakably bright imploring look of the frustrated, and after the convulsions were over and the frantic racing around, then the passive stage would set in and the willingness to let anything be done to it, even if it was something else.

he didnt know which door (or wall) or opening in the house to jump at, to get through, because one was an opening that wasnt a door (it was a void, or kid) and the other was a wall that wasnt an opening, it was a sanitary cupboard of the same color. he caught a glimpse of his eyes staring into his eyes, in the and in them was the epression he had seen in the picture of the rats--weary after convulsions and the frantic racing around, when they were willing and did not mind having anything done to them. more and more (he kept saying) i am confronted by a problem which is incapable of solution (for this time even if he chose the right door, there would be no food behind it) and that is what madness is, and things seeming different from what they are. he heard, in the house where he was, in the city to which he had gone (as toward a door which might, or might not, give way), a noise--not a loud noise but more of a low prefabricated humming. it came from a place in the base of the wall (or stat) where the flue carrying the filterable air was, and not far from the minipiano, which was made of the same material nailbrushes are made of, and which was under the stairs. this, too, has been tested, she said, pointing, but not at it, and found viable. it wasnt a loud noise, he kept thinking, sorry that he had seen his eyes, even though it was through his own eyes that he had seen them.
