大學(xué)英語演講稿1
When I saw the titile of this essay I am supposed to be writing about, all I felt were its broadness and abstractness. Though I am a Chinese myself, it had always seemed complicated to tell how much exactly my nationality meant to me until that unforgettable experience in the Chinese Embassy at the U.K, which made a significant difference to my life. Only when I was abroad did I realize how proud I always was for my great country and clarify the relationship between China and me, referring it to that between a mother and a child desperate for help.
It was in the London Heathrow International Airport that our passports and airplane tickets were stolen a few minutes before the plane took off. Despaired and tired as we were, we wandered on the flourishing streets of London and felt isolated from all the nearby lighthearted laughters. It didn't take a long time for the lingering homesickness hit us and reminded us of the Chinese Embassy at the U.K that might be our sheet anchor. Ages passed while we walked to the embassy, suffering from hunger and helplessness with every step we took. Sure enough, our eyes were unconsciously filled with tears when we finally reached the spot. I was taken by surprise when the brightly-colored Chinese national flag broke through the darkness and appeared once again in front of my eyes, recalling all the pleasure I had at home. It suddenly felt as if I was taken home, a home where all my fear and anxiety vanished and replaced by the hope and warmth that ran all over my body to cheer me up. The ambassadors were all amiable Chinese officers and the familiar Chinese accent drew me closer to my motherland where we received the only help. The ambassadors made us noodles in the familiar Chinese way and settled the accommodation for us. I had tears running down my cheeks when the hot noodles, smelled as pleasant as my mother's at home, filled my stiff empty stomach because I knew I was safe in the arms of my compatriots and there was no need to be worried anymore for I knew I was home.
We successfully returned to Beijing the next day and I still couldn't forget the moment when I felt so much closer to my motherland than any other time given, as though our hearts were beating in one melody. Had my motherland not saved the day, we would never came back home so quickly without any restriction. For that one brief second when I was handed the brand new passport with a Chinese flag printed on it, my heart was overflowed with the pride for my own nation because never has a country I known connected to its people so close as the way my motherland and us related. I was like a child, crying and desperate for help while my mother China is the harbor to hold me, this small vulnerable boat. Even though I was out of home, my motherland remained inseparated from me no matter how far I go and is always there to help me back on track whenever in need. I wish you a happy birthday, China. I am so proud of you not only because of your obvious amazing pace in economical development, but also due to the relieved and warm way I felt when I was abroad and enjoyed your ray of love shone on my body and heart. You are the spirits dancing in my blood, the strength holding up my body and and essence making up my soul. I am so honored as a Chinese, a member of this dynamic and loving country. For your development and future, it is my responsibility to settle you safely through all the numerous difficulties until we finally make it to the bank where happinese and prosperity is waiting. I love you, China, my dearest mother!

The East and the West, Lets enjoy the combination of the two cultures? Kipling said:―East is east, and west is west, and never the twain shall meet!‖ But now, a century later, they have met. They have met in business.
They have met in education. They have met in the arts. Some people will argue that these meetings will leave us with a choice between east and west, but I believe that the best future lies in the creative combination of both worlds. We can make western ideas, customs and technology our own, and adapt them to our own use. We can enjoy the best of both worlds, because our tradition is, above all, one of selecting the best and making it our own.
I love Beijing and Hennan opera because it always reminds me of who I am. But I am also a fan of pop music, especially English songs. So I have combined eastern melody with western language. It is called western henna opera.
When two cultures meet, there may be things in one culture, which do not fit into the tradition of the other. When this happens, we need to learn to understand and respect the customs of another culture. Then there are certain things some people may not like. To this, I will say, if you do not like it, please try to tolerate it. To learn to tolerate what you personally dont like is a great virtue at a time when different cultures mix and merge. Before us, there are two rivers, eastern and western cultures. At present, they may run in different courses. But eventually, they will converge into the vast sea of human culture.
Right now, I can see peoples of eastern and western cultures, standing side by side, singing the Olympic theme song: we are hand in hand, heart to heart, together we will shape a beautiful tomorrow! Thank you!

As you slowly open your eyes, look around, notice where the light comes into your room; listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize; feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air. Yes, yes, yes, it’s a new day, it’s a different day, and it’s a bright day! And most importantly, it’s a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to make new decisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented(空前的) level.
In your mind’s eye, you can see clearly the things you want to have, the paces you intend to go, the relationships you desire to develop, and the positions you aspire(勵(lì)志) to reach.
You can hear your laughters of joy and happiness on the day when everything happens as you dream. You can see the smiles on the people around you when the magic moment strikes. You can feel your face is getting red, your heart is beating fast, and your blood is rushing all over your body, to every single corner of your being!
You know all this is real as long as you are confident, passionate and committed!(效忠的) And you are confident, you are passionate, you are committed!
You will no longer fear making new sounds, showing new facial expressions, using your body in new ways, approaching new people, and asking new questions.
You will live every single day of your life with absolute passion, and you will show your passion through the words you speak and the actions you take. You will focus all your time and effort on the most important goals of your life. You will never succumb(屈服,屈從) to challenges of hardships.
You will never waver(動(dòng)搖) in your pursuit of excellence. After all, you are the best, and you deserve the best!
As your coach and friend, I can assure you the door to all the best things in the world will open to you, but the key to that door is in your hand. You must do your part. You must faithfully follow the plans you make and take the actions you plan; you must never quit and you must never fear. I know you must do it, you can do it, you will do it, and you will succeed! Now stand firm and tall, make a fist, get excited, and yell it out:
I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will succeed!
I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will succeed!
I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will succeed!

confronting the financial crisis ,what should we college students do ?
honourable judges ,ladies and gentlemen :
good morning ! at the beginning of my speech , i’d like to make a brief introductoion about myself that i hope won’t bore you , my name is liu zijing ,who come from bozhou of anhui province ,i was admitted to huaibei coal industry teacher’s college in XX年,and major in chinese language and literature 。 my today’s speech is : confronting the financial crisis ,what should we college students do ?
when you walking along a street , an inevitable phenomenon you will find is that lots of shops or markets are selling their goods at a discount ; when you visting a countryside ,an evident situation you will discover is that many workers are staying in their hometown 。 why ? that’s because the financial crisis that originated on wall street and swept the world has gone beyond the toy sector and bitten into the chinese economy。 over the past six months, many labor-intensive factories have shut down ,leaving massive numbers of workers jobless 。 although our government have taken some effective measures to stimulate the need of employment , we also can’t deny the fact that the situation is still serious 。 according to expects , china’s gdp growth slowed to 9。9 percent down 2。3 percentage points from the same period lastyear and falling to single figures for the first time in five years 。
as a college students ,i can’t be more sensitive to the essential meanings behind thesenumbers ,basing on expects , the graduates in this year are more than 5 millions , to my surprise ,there are exceed 1 million can’t find position 。 so it seems very important for us college students to consider what should we do in the intensely competitive society , particularly during this special background---international financial crisis 。
from my own perspective ,we should do three things as follows :
in the first instance , we should turn an objective attitude towards the encironment and ourselves 。 although we college students used to be the "most-favored "people in society ,we have received a higher education ,hance we are more intelligent and knowledgeable than our countparts who failed to attend college 。 society is developing in a very high pace and becoming more and more advanced , so we shoule know our own strengths and weaknesses and have the right attitude towards ourselves and the job vacancies ,in addition ,we should not attach too much importance to material aspects of the job 。
secondly ,we should have great ambition towards our future 。 ambitions are like the stars---we never reach them ,but like mariners ,we chart our course by them 。 no matter the successful merchant or official or scientist ,they have an idential personality---ambition 。 on the surfaceof the globe financial crisis , it brings the pessmisitic economic situations , but it still can’t prevent a person who have great ambition achieving his goals 。 just like george bernard shaw said :"people always blaming their circumstance , the people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstance s they want ,and ,if they can’t find them ,make them。"
last but not the least, we should study to the best of our ability to acquire knowledge as much as possible 。 college is a place where we can enrich our knowledge and improve ourselves 。as a college student , we should be these who have a strong sense of social responsibilities , up-to-date knowledge and comperhensive capabilities 。but never idle away our precious time and make our college life perplexed and vacuous 。 only master extensive knowledge and lay a solid foundtion can we have a promising and bright future。
my fellow friends ,please remember , "heaven never helps the man who will not act " every man is the architect of his own fortune , no matter how wicked the environment is ,i do believe a brilliant and original person still can realize his value and make contribution to our society 。
thank you very much for your attention !!!

Ray’s wedding had gone off without a hitch. Everyone seemed to have had a good time. A few people had too good of a time; they went home with designated drivers. All evening, the gift table remained unguarded. Who would steal anything, Ray thought. He had never heard of such a thing happening at a wedding. But his best friend Aaron said there was a first time for everything. He strolled out regularly from the inside festivities to check on the gift table, making sure no one suspicious was hanging around it.
Ray and Julia went on a 3-week honeymoon to Italy right after the wedding. When they got back, they opened all the gifts and sent out thank you notes. But there was one problem. A married couple that used to be good friends had apparently given nothing. This surprised Julia, because Walt and Mary said they were thrilled to be invited. And, they actually seemed to have had a great time at the wedding. Frankly, Ray didn’t even care if they hadn’t given a gift. He just needed to know whether to send a thank you note. Ray called Aaron. Aaron said maybe Walt had left an envelope on the gift table like Aaron had. “Yes, but we got your envelope with the cash inside,” Ray said.
“Maybe my envelope looked too thin, and some thief thought Walt’s envelope looked nice and fat.”
Aaron asked Ray if he had looked everywhere for Walt’s gift. Had he called up the wedding site to see if anything had been left behind? Ray said that he had looked everywhere and made a lot of calls that were fruitless.
Ray didn’t know what to do. If he sent Walt and Mary a thank you note for a gift they hadn’t given, they would be insulted. If he didn’t send them a thank you note for a gift they HAD given, they would be insulted.
“What would you do?” Ray asked. Aaron said he would call Walt up and tell him the problem.
“You can’t go wrong with simply being honest,” Aaron said.
“Oh, yes, you can,” Ray countered. “Sometimes it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie.” But he thought about it, and finally decided that honesty might be the best policy. He called Walt and told him the problem. Walt said that yes, he had given an envelope. In fact, the envelope contained $500 cash.
“$500?!” Ray asked. “That’s a lot of cash, Walt!” Walt admitted that it was, but he had gotten a fat raise early that year and Ray’s was the only wedding he’d been to in quite a while. Ray thanked him very much, and apologized sincerely for someone stealing Walt’s generous gift. Walt told him that it was “only money.”
When Ray told Aaron about Walt’s gift, Aaron laughed. “The only thief at the wedding was Walt! I quit playing cards with him last year because I caught him cheating. And it was only a $10 pot! I’m sure I told you about that.”
“Yes, you did tell me,” Ray said. But, of course, he had to send Walt a thank you note anyway.

since the quality of honesty applies to all behaviors, one cannot refuse to consider factual information, for example, in an unbiased manner and still claim that one's knowledge, belief or position is an attempt to be truthful. such a belief is clearly a product of one's desires and simply has nothing to do with the human ability to know. basing one's positions on what one wants — rather than unbiased evidence gathering — is dishonest even when good intentions can be cited — after all even hitler could cite good intentions and intended glory for a select group of people. clearly then, an unbiased approach to the truth is a requirement of honesty.
because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty--and a generalbelief that being dishonest means that one always correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. it's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. ideologies and idealism often exaggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the expense of the truth. this process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. to an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals.
human beings are inherently biased about what they believe to be good due to individual tastes & backgrounds, but once one understands that a decidedly biased approach to what is true — is inherently dishonest, one can also understand how idealism and ideology have poorly served the quest for an honest, moral society. both honesty and morality require that we base our opinions about what is good — upon unbiased ideas of what is true — rather than vice versa (determining what is true based on what we feel is good) — the way all ideologies would have us believe.

Change The Ingredients Of Your Life
This is a glass of water, tasteless, right? However if you add sugar, it will taste sweet, but if you add vinegar, it will become bitter. The same is true with our life____ the flavor is created by our choices.
If kindness is added to a strange you will have a friend; but if hostility is added, you will have an enemy. If love is added to a pile of red bricks you will have a home, but if hatred is add to those bricks , you will have an concentration camp.
So my dear friends, never complain that life is boring and the world is disappointing. If don’t like the taste of your life, change the ingredients.
Three year ago, I weighed more than 100 hundred kilograms which caused significant embarrassment and frustration in my life. Like always failing my P.E examinations, like always being laughed at by girls, like being terrified to speak in public. It was my grandmother’s encouragement that revived from my passive attitude to become confident in myself. She said “ My dear, if you can’t change you figure, why not treat it as your own style. So I began to cautiously employ the new way of thinking. By choosing to change my outlook on life, I developed the confidence to make a difference and finally I found a totally new world.
So my dear friend, if faith, hope, love, endurance are added to your life, you will find the confidence to conquer your limitation and embrace new challenges. And hopefully with my speech included, you will have a fantastic speech contest.

hello, everybody! my topic today is "a positive attitude."

we have to do a good job, first of all have a positive attitude. there is a formula of success, succe= goals + action + insisted + positive attitude. consistent positive attitude, succemust be quality.

大學(xué)英語演講稿10
it’s interesting to note because when you put u.s.-china relations in proper context in history, it reads like a roller coaster. caleb cushing was sent over here by john tyler because there was great concern that the british were getting way too much out of their trading relationship with china.
you’ll remember the first opium war, right? 1837 to 1842. 1842 resulted in the treaty of nanjing which opened up several important ports – xiamen, fuzhou, ningbo, shanghai, and one old canton port. trade facilitation was achieved. they lowered tariffs and they also dealt with hong kong, as you will recall, which later was dealt with a little differently. it was an open-ended agreement in 1842 and it later became quite specific, a 99 year lease in, i think, 1897 or 1898.
the u.s. was very concerned about this agreement between the uk and china, which resulted after the first opium war. president tyler sent over caleb cushing, my colleague a long time ago, and he negotiated another treaty called the treaty of wangxia, which essentially gave the united states more of a level playing field with the uk. it similarly opened up a lot of ports forcommerce and for trade facilitation, but it also achieved a sense of extraterritoriality, the first ever, which meant that american citizens would be treated under u.s. law if they found themselves in trouble in china, which was quite unique and novel in those days, back when ambassadors and consuls general had enormous power over setting both trade policy for the united states, so on and so forth.
so the roller coaster ride continued up and down.
now we sit with a large complicated relationship that is multi-faceted, that covers virtually every foreign policy issue imaginable, and one that my president, barack obama, has asked to be handled in a positive, collaborative and comprehensive fashion.
[at a meeting in the oval office of the white house, president obama] began to lay out his vision of the u.s.-china relationship, which he described as being something that he wanted to see as positive, collaborative and comprehensive, for reasons that we discussed thereafter. he said i think the headline issues really need to be the global economy, climate change and clean energy, and regional security, because those are the issues that affect not just the two countries, not just the region, but also the world, and we are the only two countries today that together can solve these issues. no one else can. i said, mr. president, i think we can do that. i think we can achieve that in our relationship. it won’t be easy. we’ll have our ups and our downs, the roller coaster like i described earlier, but i think that’s achievable.
so when president obama stepped off his plane in shanghai just a few days ago in a verydriving and cold rain – i was standing out on the tarmac and my shoes became waterlogged pretty quickly, and i didn’t take an extra pair of shoes, so i was quite cold that night – he arrived and found what he had hoped for, i believe: a relationship that by and large is entering a period where our focus will be more and more on global issues that the two of us increasingly can problem solve around. he also landed to find that despite our differences, and we have our differences, we are moving in a direction that is positive, collaborative, and comprehensive.
now while the president was here – i just want to add by giving you a sense of what was left behind – he talked more about the pacific ocean as something that no longer divides us, but something that we are bound by, and that the u.s.-china relationship should work in a way that meets our challenges, knowing full well that no one nation alone can meet the multiple challenges of the 21st century.
i would encourage all of you to take a look at the nine pages of detail that were part of the joint statement that was hammered out between both sides in the many days leading up to the visit. in it you will find key areas, which are the focus of cooperation, including global economic recovery; regional crises in iran, korea, afghanistan and pakistan; non-proliferation; climate change and energy – four sections. read through it sometime if you really want to get an on where this relationship is going.
we’ll have an opportunity in just a few short months to convene the next round of the strategic and economic dialogue right here in beijing, which will allow us again to get a check on the relationship to see how things are going, based upon having achieved a positive atmosphere that’s important to begin implementing and executing other things that together we can do.
so part of [president obama's] visit resulted in a few important things that i’m going to point out. first, military to military exchanges, something that we haven’t seen much of for over a year now. the increase in officers going back and forth; the increase in search and rescue operations; the ability for junior officers to engage in important exchanges; and for us to communicate more openly about our intentions, promoting transparency, which is mighty important between our two countries today.
second, facilitating a bilateral mechanism for people-to-people and cultural exchanges, which is what many of you are part of. now i can think of few things more important than this onebecause if we’re really going to take the u.s.-china relationship seriously, you have to ensure that the next generation coming up is given the opportunities to study and to engage in exchanges, to learn languages, and to have a better opportunity to investigate a system that is foreign to americans and our system which is very foreign to chinese students here. so by getting 100,000 more u.s. students [to china] over the next four years – this won’t be easy, to be sure, but it’s doable – i think it could be one of the more important lasting legacies of this year in u.s.-china relations.
third, on climate change, we may have some differences on how hard and how fast certaincommitments play out over the short term, but both sides recognize the importance of dramatically reducing carbon emissions by mid-century and finding new energy conservation measures. the danish proposal was always discussed, having been put forward by prime minister rasmussen, that includes a peer review feature that we feel is very important.
fourth, clean energy. aside from the u.s.-china clean energy research centers, which have been written about and talked about for some weeks now, there were several new initiatives in the areas of electric vehicles and clean building energy efficiency.
people just stumble over these things. just take that one area, for example. clean building energy efficiency. when you stop to consider that china over the next ten years will be building more in the way of commercial office space than we have in our total inventory in the united states, you get some sense of how important this is and what an important contribution it could be if done right to global emissions over the next many years. we’re also going to promote an energy partnership on shale gas resources as well as work to promote technologies and cooperation on large-scale carbon gas sequestration projects.
fifth, on nuclear proliferation, we’re going to pursue ratification of the comprehensive test ban treaty; negotiations are going to be launched on the fissile material cutoff treaty; and china has agreed to actively participate in preparation for the april XX nuclear safety summit.
sixth, on the global economic crisis, the two presidents were quite outspoken that what has emerged from this crisis and our joint cooperation was essential in weathering the early storms. much of what both countries did was not public or visible in the early days of the crisis, but we did end up with good stimulus packages, reassured the markets, and stabilized bonded credit systems.
but we need to keep in mind that the new global economic order that emerges in the aftermath of the crisis that we are experiencing will look very different from the one that preceded it, which means recognizing the limits of depending primarily on american consumers and asian exports to drive growth.
the new strategy of balanced economic growth in america means more saving and lessspending; reforming our financial system; reducing our long term deficit; exporting more; and in the process, creating more and better paying jobs and committing to an open market all the while.
in china, the new strategy of economic growth means higher standards of living for workers and consumers through greater choice in the market place, improved infrastructure, a modern financial structure, better housing, quality health care, and a more fully developed social safety net that premier wen jiabao mentioned just the other day as being critically important to the economic transition that is now underway.
there is every reason to think that on china will succeed, and that its extraordinary record of accomplishment over the last 30 years can be sustained. and there is every reason to think america will once again regain its preeminent role as an american powerhouse. you see, we are a nation that responds well to adversity. i think we’re going to look back on the last few years as a period that allowed us to change course and to look anew at our priorities in the future.

If you're middle-aged and your memory's not what it used to be, check the bathroom scale, researchers warned, suggesting overweight people tend to score more poorly on tests of memory than their thinner peers do.
The findings suggest that a heavier weight in middle age may mean a higher risk of dementia later in life.
Reporting in the journal Neurology, the researchers speculated that higher rates of cardiovascular disease or diabetes might help explain the link. But it's also possible that substances produced by fat cells, such as the hormone leptin, have direct effects on the brain.
The study compared mental abilities to body mass index (BMI), a
measurement of weight in relation to height used to define overweight and obesity. A BMI of 25 or more indicates overweight, and 30 or more is obese.
The study also investigated the relationships between BMI and cognitive function in 2,223 healthy men and women between the ages of 32 and 62 in France through the use of four cognitive tests.
The study found a higher BMI was associated with lower cognitive test scores. Results from a test involving word memory recall show people with a BMI of 20 remembered an average of nine out of 16 words, while people with a BMI of 30 remembered an average of seven out of 16 words.
